Welcome to November!

What an unbelievable month it has been for the Tucson Cancer Conquerors!

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, TCC was selected by Eegees “Drink Pink for Cure” campaign to receive donations from their sale of frozen pink lemonade...and we were featured on KOLD/Fox11 news highlighting our fitness program and our garden at Felicia’s Farm...and we were selected by 100+ Women Who Care About Tucson to receive their very first charitable gift!

We closed out October with our TCC Members hosting the 100+ Women group for breakfast at Brandi Fenton Park to celebrate their incredibly generous gift! It was wonderful for everyone to get to the chance to know on another. Thank you!

We are so grateful to all of these organizations for their generous support and the opportunity to share the mission of TCC with our community. We are especially proud of our members who, through their compassion and positive energy, continue to offer  a valued resource not only for each other, but also for those in need of support in our community. We thank each and every TCC member for the time and energy they have volunteered to help the Tucson Cancer Conquerors in fulfilling their mission of promoting healthy survivorship.

Also many thanks to Dr. David Jeck, Dr. Dill-Macky, and all the terrific folks at Radiology Limited for the fun and informative educational event on women's imaging they provided exclusively for our TCC members. We are grateful for their support and partnership in promoting women’s health. This was definitely the way to attend a lecture!

More great things are coming, so please read this newsletter, check the Calendar on our website, and invite others to be a part of our activities. Our committees, and you, are busy making great things happen!

Remember goodness multiplies!

TCC Exercise Class News

Exercises classes are held at Brandi Fenton Park Tuesdays evenings at 5:30 PM and starting October 3rd, Saturday mornings at 8:00 AM.

The TCC Fitness Challenge is on!

Be sure to keep your fitness log with you so you can record and be mindful of your nutrition, hydration, and fitness goals. Even if you’ve forgotten a few days, jump back in and stay on track! Start your day with a glass of water and have another before every meal. Be sure to spend time stretching throughout the day and if you sit at a desk get up and move every hour - you are going to need to refill your water bottle anyway…

For optimal health, plan on some sort of  exercise 5 days per week. By recording your pedometer steps each day you can set new and higher goals for the weeks that follow. Keep your goals realistic but always try to  do a little more that you did the week before. By coming to TCC workouts you are almost half way there. The weather is beautiful so join us!

Exercise Class Payments

For those participating in exercise class, payment is now due for October through December classes. The cost is still just $50 for one class per week for the quarter, or $75 for two classes per week.

You can now pay for exercise classes online with Paypal in the Members Area of our website. Of course, you can also pay with cash or a check payable to Tucson Cancer Conquerors, either of which can be given to Annie O'Connor or Joanne Gouldin. Please click here to email Annie or click here to email Joanne if you have any payment related questions.

TCC Garden News

Things are looking good at the farm and we have lots of things sprouting up in our in-ground plot! Master Gardener Dawn will be away during November, but Linda Rupel has graciously offered to coordinate the garden work during her absence.

As always, there is weeding to do and we have also started weekly "U-Picks" on Saturday mornings after the TCC Coffee Café from 9:30 AM to 10:00AM.

In our raised beds there is arugula, mizuna (Asian mustard greens), and bok choy ready to harvest, as well as some lemon basil, a little bit of cilantro, and a few radishes. Linda will be available at the "U-Picks" to help make sure everyone knows what and how to harvest sustainably.

Please click here to email Linda Rupel if you have any questions this month's garden events, and please click here to email Master Gardener Dawn if you would like to learn how you can help with the TCC Garden.

There are no Mindful Meanderings scheduled in November, but please click here to email Dawn for more information or visit the Mindful Meandering Facebook page.

Mindful Quote of the Month

Most of us take for granted that time flies, meaning that it passes too quickly. But in the mindful state, time doesn't really pass at all. There is only a single instant of time that keeps renewing itself over and over with infinite variety. ~Deepak Chopra
