Hello Conquerors!

Cooler weather showed up just in time for our mini retreat! TCC members enjoyed a stay-cation weekend at the beautiful Lodge at Ventana Canyon Resort. We hiked and Mindful Meandered through Sabino Canyon to a breakfast picnic area in the cool mountain outdoors. Then…lunch at the pool, water volleyball and aerobics, painting, educational lectures and a fabulous healthy dinner on the Flying V patio with Chef Ken. If you couldn’t join us this time don't worry, we will definitely do it again.

With this month being Breast Cancer Awareness month we have a lot going on! Eegees has selected us to be their featured charity for their Drink Pink Campaign the month of October. TCC will get a portion of their pink Lemonade Eegees sales as well as the coin canisters at every Tucson Eegees register. Buy a bucket for your office and send us a photo with your crew and we’ll post it on our Facebook page. Thanks for supporting TCC by drinking Pink!

All of our many programs would not be possible without the amazing support of our community partners. A big thank you this month to Norma Zimdahl for supporting our TCC organization. Norma is an accomplished musician with a long successful career in radio and television. She has used her musical gifts for philanthropy, supporting charitable causes that make America a better place. She is passionate about our local community and we are so lucky to be the recipient of her generous gift!

As always, information on all of our events is just a click away on our interactive calendar at www.YouCanConquer.org. We have something for everyone so grab a friend and be sure to join us!

Get Fit Update

Did you know that the benefits of exercise extend not just to the body, but also to the brain?

A new pilot study of 87 breast cancer survivors found that women who did a 12-week exercise program more than doubled how fast they were able to take in information. Click here to check out the Time Magazine article, 6 Surprising Things That Can Improve Breast Cancer Treatment.

Join the TCC Walkers every Saturday Morning!

If you can walk, you can do it. You just need to take that first step and GET MOVING. We have something for everyone so bring a friend and join the walkers now at 8:00 AM every Saturday!

Organic Gardening

Garden Update

It’s time to move back out into the sunshine to an in ground plot to plant our cool season vegetable garden.

Join us Saturday, October 28th when GetFit class will exercise our way to Felicia’s farm to plant our fall garden and enjoy an al fresco Coffee Café.

Dawn is currently not able to spend as much time at the farm, and so we are really in need of TCC members with experience with vegetable gardening to help out.  If you are interested in being more involved with the TCC Garden, please email Liz or Dawn.

 TCC Get Support

Coffee Café, the TCC Resource Room and more!

Saturday Coffee Café

Even if you don't come for exercise class, please join us at the TCC Coffee Café to share a snack, socialize and hear about all our upcoming activities! The Coffee Café happens after every Saturday morning right after exercise class at the Brandi Fenton Park Visitor's Center.

Please consider signing up to bring Coffee Café snacks one Saturday this year. You can always partner with another member to make it easier, and you can be sure we will appreciate whatever snacks you bring! Speak to Jenny Waters for more information.

TCC Resource Room

After Coffee Café announcements, we invite you to come down to the comfy TCC Resource Room to enjoy a quiet chat or to browse and check out a book from our lending library. We also offer information about community support services and local events of interest and a Member Resource Directory. The Resource Room is open Tuesday afternoons and Saturday mornings during Get Fit classes and during Saturday Coffee Café.

The TCC Book Groupies meet on the third Saturday morning of each month. For the October 21st meeting, Ambre Cole will lead the discussion of The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane by Lisa See.

For November 18th, Jenny Waters will lead our discussion of Animal Dreams by Barbara Kingsolver. The novel is a suspenseful love story and a moving exploration of life’s largest commitments. Using flashbacks, dreams, and Native American legends, it tells the story of Codi Noline, a dreamless woman at the end of her rope who discovers the unexpected when she returns home to Grace, Arizona, to confront her past and face her ailing father.

We would like to than Norma Zimdhal for her generous support!

Chellie and Kristina at Creative Juice

Executive Chef Ken Harvey, Chef Brandon Cathy, and the entire culinary team at the Flying V at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort
