Hello Conquerors!

October was crazy busy but so much fun! We started off the month with “TCC Gives Back” and headed downtown after our Get Fit Class to the Ben’s Bells Project. There we helped to create beautiful pieces of art for their programs designed to inspire and educate our communities on the impact of intentional Kindness. Their gift shop is amazing and many of us picked up holiday gifts.

October is Breast Cancer awareness month and TCC members headed downtown once again to participate in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. It was a beautiful walk through our city in support of family and friends. Thank you to those who were able to participate.

TCC also got some national exposure with our president Dr. Liz on the Michaela show on Headline News! Though it was quick, she was able to get the word out about some of TCC’s many support programs for cancer survivors and their families. Click here to watch the video...it won’t take long!

The end of October marks the fall planting season for our organic garden. Members walked to Felicias Farm, weeded, raked, and planted. Our reward? A farm to table Demo with Chef Ken Harvey for a tasty breakfast! Than you Chef Ken!

All of our many programs would not be possible without the amazing support of our community partners. This month we would like to thank Luis and Rhonda Pimber from the PHP (People Helping People) Agency for hosting a Pink Party in support of the Tucson Cancer Conquerors. TCC members had the opportunity to share their stories and enjoy a fashion show with good food and great company! Thank you PHP for your support!

As always, information on all of our events is just a click away on our interactive calendar at www.YouCanConquer.org. We have something for everyone so grab a friend and be sure to join us!

Organic Gardening

Garden Update

Its time for fall planting. Thanks to all who helped us clean out our summer plots, plant starts, and get the ground ready for our fall garden! Garden committee meets at Felicias farm Tuesday afternoon before Get Fit class and Saturday mornings after coffee cafe. We would love volunteers!

Dawn is currently not able to spend as much time at the farm, and so we are really in need of TCC members with experience with vegetable gardening to help out.  If you are interested in being more involved with the TCC Garden, please email Liz or Dawn.

Coffee Café, the TCC Resource Room and more!

Saturday Coffee Café

Even if you don't come for exercise class, please join us at the TCC Coffee Café to share a snack, socialize and hear about all our upcoming activities! The Coffee Café happens after every Saturday morning right after exercise class at the Brandi Fenton Park Visitor's Center.

Please consider signing up to bring Coffee Café snacks one Saturday this year. You can always partner with another member to make it easier, and you can be sure we will appreciate whatever snacks you bring! Speak to Jenny Waters for more information.

TCC Resource Room

After Coffee Café announcements, we invite you to come down to the comfy TCC Resource Room to enjoy a quiet chat or to browse and check out a book from our lending library. We also offer information about community support services and local events of interest and a Member Resource Directory. The Resource Room is open Tuesday afternoons and Saturday mornings during Get Fit classes and during Saturday Coffee Café.

The TCC Book Groupies meet on the third Saturday morning of each month. For the November 18th meeting, Jenny Waters will lead our discussion of Animal Dreams by Barbara Kingsolver.

Book Groupies will be on hiatus during the month of December, but look for information in next month's newsletter about the book we'll discussing in January!
